Description: An excellent powder that can be mixed with plain rice.
Preparation Time: 20 mins
Redgram dal – 1 cup (250ml cup)
Bengalgram dal – ½ cup
Red Chilli – 8
Asafoetida(broken into small pieces)- 1 big piece
Salt to taste
1.Heat a frying pan and add the asafoetida pieces, when they turn dark brown in color add the redgram dhal and dry roast on a medium flame till the dhal is rich brown in colour.
2.Roast the Bengalgram dhal also in the same manner.
3.Spread this on a sheet of paper and allow to cool.
4.Remove the moisture from the salt by warming it in a frying pan
5.Once cooled add the salt and to the dhal mixture and powder coarsely.
This can be stored in an air tight container for about 6 months and for as long as a year in the freezer.
