Moong Dhal Payasam

Description: A sweet dish made with milk and Green Gram Dhal.
Preparation Time: 20 mins

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

GreenGram Dhal(Moong Dhal) – ½ cup
Milk(boiled) – 4 cups
Jaggery(grated)- 1 cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Cardamom powder – 1 teaspoon
Cashewnuts – 10
Raisins – 15
Coconut pieces – 10 (½ inch long thin pieces)

METHOD:

1.Dry roast the green gram dhal to a golden brown color in a pan.
2.Fry the cashewnut and raisans in ghee and keep aside.
3.Pressure cook the dhal in the normal way, cool and mash it to a smooth paste.
4.In a heavy bottomed vessel combine the milk with the mashes dhal stirring nicely making sure there are no lumps.
5.After one boil add the sugar and jaggery and stir well and allow one boil.
6.Remove from the fire and add the fried cashewnuts and raisins,cardamom powder and the coconut pieces.
7.Chill and serve.
