Cabbage Kofta

Description: Fried cabbage balls in a mild gravy.
Preparation Time: 25 mins

MAIN INGREDIENTS:
FOR KOFTA:

Cabbage – 2 cups(shredded)
Onion – 1 small(finely cut)
Ginger – 1 inch piece(finely cut)
Green chillis – 2(finely cut)
Garam masala powder – 1 teaspoon
Bengal gram flour – 4 tablespoons
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Salt to taste
Cooking Oil – for frying

FOR GRAVY:

Fresh mint Leaves – a handfull
Tomato puree – 2 cups
Salt to taste
Cooking oil – 2 tablespoons

FOR GRINDING:

Onion – 1 small size
Mango powder – 1 teaspoon
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Fresh coriander leaves – ½ bunch
Garam masala powder – 1 teaspoon
Sugar – 1 teaspoon
Fry the onion in some oil till soft and then grind with the other ingredients to a smooth paste.

METHOD:

1.Mix all the ingredients for kofta with a little water to form a stiff mixture.
2.Divide into even sized balls and deep fry to rich brown colour and keep aside.
3.Heat oil in a pan, fry the ground paste for a few minutes, add mint leaves and saute for few more minutes.
4.Add the tomato puree,salt and a little water.
5.Let it simmer on slow flame till it thickens.Remove from the fire.
6.Just before serving re-heat the gravy till warm,add the koftas and transfer to a serving dish.
